Jason Hawkins ALCM LRSM MusB(Hons) PGCE is a full-time freelance musician based in Yorkshire and has worked for the UK’s leading arts organisations including The Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Singers, The Armonico Consort, The Exon Singers and The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). As a Pianist and Organist, Jason’s performances have been broadcast on ITV, Irish TV, BBC TV and on BBC Radio. Jason has performed extensively throughout the UK and Europe. This has included performances at major venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Bridgewater Hall, Symphony Hall (Birmingham), The Sage Gateshead, Mechalan Cathedral, The American Cathedral (Paris) and Disneyland (Paris).
Jason is in demand as a Choral Conductor, Choral Animateur Musical Director working throughout the UK in both Classical and Musical Theatre contexts. Recently, Jason was appointed Musical Director for Morley Music Society with their 77th Season opening with Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Organist at Morley Central Methodist Church.
Jason also teaches the Piano, Organ and Music Technology at leading institutions throughout Yorkshire and has considerable experience in mental health and charitable settings.
As a Composer and Sound Artist, Jason’s work has delighted audiences across the UK which includes works for Children’s Choir, Male Voice Choir, Orchestra, Sound Installation and Piano.
Initially, Jason studied supported by a scholarship at Chetham’s School of Music receiving the Michael Abraham Piano Prize for Piano Sightreading and continued his musical studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. During this time Jason also became a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM). Following the RNCM, Jason graduated from The University of Manchester in 2014 with a first-class honours degree in Music, specialising in Piano and Composition. Recently, Jason became an Associate of the London College of Music (ALCM) in Music Composition and completed a PGCE in Primary Education at The University of Cumbria.
Currently, Jason is also a MA in Education student at University College London and a Trustee for Ramsbottom Music Festival. Jason is married to Heather and they live in West Yorkshire.
