Peter Condry is our Musical Director for the 2015-2016 season.
Peter grew up in Surbiton, Surrey and received his earliest musical training in his Father’s choir at St Mary the Virgin, Mortlake. He studied the organ and piano before moving to Leeds to read Music at the University. Whilst studying for his degree, Peter was a choral scholar in the world famous Leeds Parish Church (now Minster) choir under Dr Simon Lindley. After graduating, Peter was appointed as a Lay Clerk in the choir of Ripon Cathedral, where he served for four years, participating in a number of broadcasts and recordings. He remains highly active as a tenor soloist and professional ensemble singer in the north of England. As a conductor, Peter got his formative experiences directing the choir at St Paul’s Drighlington whilst still a student. He has since served as Director of Ecclesia and, perhaps most famously in these parts, has led the Morley Academy Senior Choir for the past 8 years. During this time the choir has built a city-wide reputation, has toured abroad on seven occasions and has recently broadcast live on French National Radio! He also plays the organ and directs the choir at his parish church in Manston.
