Singing is a great way to relax and choral singing has always been a popular pastime in Yorkshire. Latterly, TV programmes have focused on the social and health benefits of belonging to a choir as well as the sheer enjoyment of performing in a large venue with soloists and musicians. We are always keen to encourage new members and anyone interested in coming along to a taster session would be very welcome. Please contact our Secretary, Trish Law on mobile 07714674192, or via the website to introduce yourself.
Morley Music Society is a mixed-voice choir of about fifty singers, founded in 1943. We give three main concerts each year: Autumn, Christmas and Spring, singing a wide range of music from the classical repertoire. A summer concert, performing music in a lighter vein, is usually held as well as other social and special events. Rehearsing from September to May in Central Methodist Church Hall, Wesley Street, Morley, we meet at 7.15 pm on Mondays (commencing September 11th this season with our AGM).
Most of our concerts are performed in the church, where there is a recently restored Binns organ. Our Musical Director for 2016-2017 is Peter Condry.
New members are always very welcome.
